Coming Soon: F9

Becky Aurit

From best to worst, here is my definitive ranking of the movies in the Fast Saga:

  1. "Fast Five"
  2. "Furious 7"
  3. "Fast & Furious 6"
  4. "The Fate of the Furious"
  5. "The Fast and the Furious"
  6. "Fast & Furious"
  7. "2 Fast 2 Furious"
  8. "The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift"

I'm not sure where "F9" will fall on that list when it is released in May, but based on the trailer I know that the movie will be a lot of fun.

The trailer for "F9" opens with scenes of Dom and Letty living a peaceful life in the country, where they are raising Dom's son Brian. Until this preview dropped, I had actually forgotten that there was a baby in "The Fate of the Furious," in spite of the fact that he was involved in an epic fight sequence on a plane.

This is the Fastiverse, so naturally our heroes aren't able to stay away from the spotlight for long. Trouble appears in the form of John Cena, who plays Jakob, a talented thief and Dom's surprise secret brother. If The Rock is busy you need a substitute wrestler, right?

The action scenes in this preview are great, as expected. I do, as you probably know by now, adore over-the-top action scenes, which is why I love the Fast movies. However, the most notable part of the trailer for "F9" is the return of a beloved (spoiler alert) former character, who was supposedly killed at the end of the worst Fastiverse film.

"F9" comes to theaters the weekend of May 22-25. That means, because of Memorial Day, you'll get an extra weekend day to enjoy the exploits of Dom and company.
