Box Office Estimates for December 6-8

Todd Thatcher

Awards Season is upon us at FML and congrats to the 101 players who managed to top me in the fall... darn you "Queen & Slim"!

Todd from here bringing you my take on a typically quiet post Thanksgiving frame. Our newcomers include one animated feature that's not definitely not an awards contender... "Playmobil: The Movie". There's also the Mark Ruffalo drama "Dark Waters" which, despite solid reviews, hasn't really generated any Oscar heat. I'm not seeing either of the newbies factoring into my lineup.

"Frozen II" should easily three-peat as we await anticipated December behemoths "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" and "Jumanji: The Next Level". I'm expecting around a 50% drop for it while I've got other leftovers dipping in the high 30s to mid 40s range, for the most part.

This gives my BP advantage to "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood", though it's certainly possible that "Knives Out" has a healthy hold that could put it well into contention.

Here's how I have the selected features performing:

"Frozen II" - $43.3 million
"Knives Out" - $16.4 million
"Ford v Ferrari" - $7.5 million
"A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" - $7.2 million
"Queen & Slim" - $6.7 million
"Playmobil: The Movie" - $3.1 million
"21 Bridges" - $2.9 million
"Dark Waters" - $2.6 million
"Playing with Fire" - $2.3 million
"Midway" - $2.2 million
"Joker" - $1.1 million
"Last Christmas" - $1.1 million
"Harriet" - $1 million
"The Good Liar" - $800,000
"Maleficent: Mistress of Evil - $670,000

And that leaves me playing "Frozen" along with "Neighborhood" 5x, "Midway", and "Liar". What say you?
