Hello fellow FMLers!
Welcome to the weekly FML Spotlight! My name is Jeffery but you may know me better as Katniss Cinnaplex. Each week I'll be highlighting the top players in each of the public leagues (FML League, Monthly Matchup and Season Showdown) and tracking the race to the top of the leaderboards.
I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving and was able to hit the theaters this weekend. The two new releases were huge hits as we finished the season off in exciting fashion! For most of the weekend, Knives Out held the best performer (BP) bonus but on Monday morning everything changed. Queen & Slim had the final say with an increase over Sunday's projection pushing it into the best value and our third 8x perfect cineplex (PC) of the fall season!
This was one of the wildest final weeks in FML's history. Multiple BP options and many viable lineups laid out a wide array of possible winners once the slate locked on Friday. Our most likely winners were as follows: AethelredtheUnready (IOU) - already held a slight lead and played A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood seven times; Fourth Wall - previously in and played two screens of Frozen 2 Saturday and five Playing with Fire; Ted Nugent - the highest with a Knives Out anchor at 5th; and See You Soon (IOU) - the highest with the Queen & Slim eight-pack. The update Saturday had Aethel's lead down to a slim margin but still hanging on. On Sunday, Ted Nugent roared ahead thanks to a PC bonus. On Monday, the final numbers slowly rolled in as everyone watched with bated breath. Joker - below its estimate; Playing with Fire - slight increase; Queen & Slim - big increase but not enough to take over the top value without help; all that was left was to find out whether Knives Out would stay above $26.88 million. Finally, the results were in: Queen & Slim had taken over the BP by a slim margin and FML has a new queen! See You Soon rode her second straight PC to the top of the leaderboard for her first season victory! In second place was Stillwater, who jumped from 12th with the PC, while last week's leader, Aethel, finished in third.
Odin's Eleven wasn't able to nab a fifth consecutive PC so the streak heads over to the 19 players who just hit their second straight PC!
Entering the final week, Odin's Eleven held a $23 million lead over everyone else in the November contest; what a difference a week makes! It took all of eight BP bonuses and the PC bonus to pull Feyd Rautha ahead of Odin. Feyd jumped seven players on their way to the monthly win. Odin's Eleven ended in second place just ahead of See You Soon (IOU). The rest of the final top ten all played at least seven screens of Queen & Slim; That A**hole Minion ® made up the most ground climbing from 98th to 10th.
The FML League
The FML League is the one-stop, go-to league for all players in Fantasy Movie League. Each week brings us a new contest; ties are almost guaranteed so you really need to be on top of your tiebreaker game. The tiebreaker this week was to predict the second Friday gross for Frozen 2 : $34,130,914. Only 102 took the risk on the cheap lineup but it will pay off for one lucky player. Here are the top five this week: Miyagi-Do Theatres, Spaldingclan's Cineplex, Jen's Cineplex, ConsultFantasy Pictures and this week's winner Sudden Valley! Congratulations to all of the winners this week!
This coming weekend players will be competing for a Pearl Harbor script signed by Kate Beckinsale along with an FML "Winner" t-shirt. Good luck, and don't forget to set those tiebreakers!
Disclaimer: all winners eligibility must be confirmed by Fantasy Movie League before receiving prizes.
