Coming Soon: Like A Boss

Female-lead comedies don't always have the best track record at the box office, especially when the titles don't include words like "bad," and "moms," or "girls," and "trip." That won't keep me from cheering for cheering for the genre, though. This week I took a look at the trailer for "Like a Boss," and upcoming comedy starring Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne.

In "Like a Boss," the two main characters are friends who have started their own cosmetics business. When faced with a large debt, they turn to investor Clara Luna (played by Selma Hayek in an over-the-top red wig.) Unfortunately, it turns out that Luna might have plans to take over the small company, rather than helping Haddish and Byrne's characters.

The best part of the preview for like a boss is the chemistry between the two leads. Haddish does slapstick physical comedy, which plays well against Byrne's sarcastic one liners.

In addition to the two protagonists, the supporting cast is fantastic. Hayek portrays a superficial business mogul, who makes several slightly inappropriate jokes about plastic surgery. The movie also features Billy Porter, who just won an Emmy for his performance in the television show "Pose." Porter is a great actor, and is well known for his super stylish outfits, including the one he wore this week at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

"Like a Boss" comes to theaters the weekend of January 10-12. That is a dumping ground of a date, but you should still check out the trailer. Just make sure to wear headphones if you are at work or are still visiting family.
