Would you like to build a lineup?
Each Thursday I'll give a little breakdown on how to build your lineup with the information readily available to everyone, especially if you don't know where to start.
this can always change pending preview numbers and are by no means a guarantee to win
As expected, "A Dog's Journey" crushed the Bonus Bar last week due to the massive amount of pairings it had in the drive ins. Were you able to read between the lines of last week's column and go all in with the doggos? This week has some new entries that reviews haven't been to kind to, "Men in Black" and "Shaft" are hoping to break the curse of coming well under their Long Range Forecasts.
The Builder this week is set at $69k. A little lower than we're used to recently but still a great place to start. I can see it increasing, but not by too much this week.
Guyett set the Bonus Bar at $75k. At first glance I thought maybe this was a little low, but as the week progressed I realized that this is pretty accurate.
So…um…I lasted less than 24 hours in the BSA vs the FML league. I had a hectic Friday morning and did the dreaded "copy all" to my cineplex and just like that, I was out. BSWhite has advised against "Men in Black". A lot of FMLers are thinking this is a bit of a no brainer and are hoping that BSWhite gets a little more risky as the season goes on. That said, I completely agree with the BSA this week.
Unlike last week, "A Dog's Journey" is DOA this week. Other DOA's include, "Avengers: Endgame" and "Detective Pikachu". Keep in mind, DOA movies are still playable, but most likely are filler than anything else.
Sulli's Drive In Report is featured again this week. With driveiin season afoot, this will be an important topic to keep up on. Notable pairings, or at least the movie that is benefiting from the most pairings is "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" with a total of 109. I don't know if it will give it a significant bump seeing as it's still bringing in a decent amount of money.
BOP has "Men in Black" coming in awfully short of their original projections, even "Shaft" isn't doing too great. They have "Secret Life of Pets 2" as their top choice, with "Rocketman" and "Avengers: Endgame" next in order.
BOR isn't as low on "Men in Black", having his estimate over $30 million, but he has no faith is "Shaft", estimating it at a mere $17 million. He also has "Secret Life of Pets 2" as his top BP choice and just like BOP, that is followed by "Rocketman" and "Avengers: Endgame" respectively.
It looks like all the pros are in agreement this week in regards to "Men in Black" and "Shaft" with Mojo's estimates coming in on the low side as well. Like the other two, Mojo has "Secret Life of Pets 2" as their top BP choice, but then have "Dark Phoenix" second and "Ma" third.
The pros are in consensus this week, even though they have different estimates, they all feel that "Secret Life of Pets 2" is where it"s at. The question is, will it be both your BP and your anchor or are there movies that they didn't report on that could steal BP and/factor more in your line than their potential PC lines.
So, as Phil had indicated in his Fandango Check, "A Dog's Journey", and "Detective Pikachu" got significant theatre cuts. Other movies that saw a fair amount of theatre cuts were "Avengers: Endgame" and "Ma".
I've got a very clear anchor option this week, you should as well, but I'm debating amongst 3 movies for a BP candidate and what filler I'm going to go with.
