Would you like to build a lineup?
Each Thursday I'll give a little breakdown on how to build your lineup with the information readily available to everyone, especially if you don't know where to start.
this can always change pending preview numbers and are by no means a guarantee to win
Last weekend was a nail biter for a lot of reasons. As we all watched and hoped that the GOAT (Flops) would win the Box Office Beatdown, he was edged out in the end.
The dust has settled. Things have gone back to normal, so on to this week.
The Builder has a very respectable $82k Bonus Bar set. In fact, I'd say it's one of the better starting points we've seen from the Builder.
Guyett sets the Bonus Bar at $80k this week. I think at this point, many have increased it to $85k
BSWhite has been balancing on the edge the last few weeks, and this week is no different. Could this be the week that finally gets him? While, I don't see "Detective Pikachu" getting BP this week, I do see a lot of ways in can be part of the PC.
Phil is saying that "Uglydolls" and "Captain Marvel" are DOA this week, and "Tolkien" is right on the edge of that. For "Tolkien", only being in its second week, this usually means it's splitting showtimes and although it may not be losing theatres, it won't be playing as much as last week.
As much as I was going to include the Drive-In Report this week (and it's definitely one to always look at now that nicer weather is upon us) I wanted to do a for funsies one, which is the "John Wick 3" kill count thread by Drew.
BOP is all in on "Uglydolls" this week. What do they know that we don't? (I'll touch on that at the end)In a distant second is "John Wick 3" and finally "Avengers: Endgame".
BOR seems a lot lower this week with his estimates. Even with the lower estimate, "John Wick 3" is his number 1 pick for BP, "Long Shot" second, and in third "Poms".
Mojo, like BOR, has a lower estimate for "John Wick 3" but has it as their top BP contender. It's followed by "Avengers: Endgame" then "Detective Pikachu"
"John Wick 3" wound up with 3850, which is a little more than I originally thought. "Captain Marvel", "Uglydolls", and "Shazam" all took deep cuts this week of over 40+%.
I have a feeling that there is a very clear anchor choice for this weekend.
Many may not be aware, but it's a long weekend in Canada! Yay! Now, we may have 1/10th of the population of America, but when we're all off, the box office can be impacted by it. I'll be giving any-family oriented films a bit of a softer drop this weekend because of that. Yes, Canada does count! That's why they call it "North American Box Office."
