Would you like to build a lineup?

Lindsay Chrapko

Each Thursday I'll give a little breakdown on how to build your lineup with the information readily available to everyone, especially if you don't know where to start.

this can always change pending preview numbers and are by no means a guarantee to win

Wasn't that a weekend?!!? Records breaking everywhere! As long as you anchored with a 2 or 3x combo of "Avengers: Endgame," you faired pretty well.

This week we see "Avengers: Endgame" split once again. For the purposes of the Bonus Bar and BP potential, I'll be using the following splits for F/S/S - 28.11/41.07/30.82. Notice the way the split goes this week as opposed to last week, with Saturday getting a bigger piece of the pie followed by Sunday.

Cineplex Builder

The Cineplex Builder has the Bonus Bar set at a conservative $121.5k. There seems to be no stopping "Avengers: Endgame" and what it can do, I don't doubt it's going much higher this week.

Bonus Bar

Guyett has a more reasonable Bonus Bar of $135k. All the movies have to compete against "Avengers: Endgame" once again for box office dollars so it will be very interesting how all the other films fair against it.

BSA

BSWhite advises against "Uglydolls" this week, hoping to continue his amazing streak for the year. I hadn't even heard of this movie until this week, and to be honest, doesn't look very interesting. But that's just my opinion.

Fandango Tracking

Well, shoot. Looks like everything is DOA except the new releases and "Avengers: Endgame." "Pet Sematary" and "Penguins" lost a tons of showings according to this. This is going to make the weekend much more interesting. We can't avoid all the movies, but you have a lot more work to do with filler this week.

Noteworthy Threads

There's very little chatter going on in the MC, seems a lot of people are holding information close to their chest (I'm betting Matthew Berry has something to do with it :P) so BSWhite gets double the love this week, highlighting his Secret Recipe. Now how much of an impact Cinco De Mayo has on the weekend has yet to be seen, but it is definitely something to factor in (as is with any event/holiday et al.)

Boxoffice Pro

Using the splits I mentioned before (which is all guess work on my part) BOP has "Avengers: Endgame" taking weekend, with my splits making the order Fri, Sun, Sat. This is where things get tricky and you have to tweak your numbers accordingly.

Boxoffice Report

BOR has "Avengers: Endgame" also sweeping the weekend, with my numbers having Fri, Sun, Sat, in that order, but a completely different top line due to the original estimate. I always recommend to adjust accordingly in the second week of splits.

Boxoffice Mojo

Mojo is in line with the other pros, the difference is that they have "Avengers: Endgame" with Sat, Sun then Fri as their respective BP's. Which gives another different line up.

In all cases, it's also good to look at the next best non-"Avengers: Endgame" movie to see where it falls in relation to the split days to see if there's anything that could be overlooked.

Theatre Counts

Theatre counts don't look as bad as the Fandango Check would indicate but that may mean that movies other than new releases are splitting screens. "Pet Sematar"y and "Penguins" still took the brunt of it, and won't be in BP play, but may lend to filler depending on which line you choose to go with.

Another tough week ahead, and another week of anchoring with "Avengers: Endgame" which could potentially be a BP play as well. You just have to hope your split %'s are accurate.
