Would you like to build a lineup?
Each Thursday (the FML Editors apologize for this week's delay) I'll give a little breakdown on how to build your lineup with the information readily available to everyone, especially if you don't know where to start.
this can always change pending preview numbers and are by no means a guarantee to win
Welp. On what was supposed to be a consensus week, 'Captain Marvel' swooped in and crushed it. Well done to all those that weren't fooled by 'Unplanned's' expansion. The good news is that if you did play the 'Shazam/Unplanned' line, you were in good company and there wasn't too much movement in the Top 500.
The Builder is starting us off at $75k for the Bonus Bar. This is probably one of the more accurate starting points for the Builder. I expect it to still go higher, but not by a crazy amount.
Woah. Skynet is bringing the big guns out with Flops doing the Bonus Bar week while Guyett is still vacationing. Flops sets the Bonus Bar at 80k and is extremely insightful with his write ups for each movie.
BSWhite has had a good run this year with the BSA and I believe he's correct this week as well. He advises against playing 'Missing Link,' stating it won't be BP nor feature in the PC. It also faces some fierce competition from holdovers which will temper its opening weekend expectations.
No notables that we should do a double take on this week. Phil has ruled out 5 movies from BP contention, 'Captain Marvel,' 'Five Feet Apart,' 'Hotel Mumbai,' 'How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World' and 'Wonder Park.'
This week's Fandango Tracking is showing a lot of frontloadedness on some of the new releases compared to their overall presales. Something to keep an eye on, but in 'After's' case, if it plays out like 'Unplanned's' first week, it may not matter in the grand scheme of things.
With so many useful threads and the variety of player contributions, I've decided to change it up a bit and go with featuring these types of threads each week rather than sticking with just a handful. This week No Poetic Device has given us a little insight on the movie 'After,' more importantly, she delves into its origins and gives sound logic on why it's a BP contender.
BOP is thinking that 'Shazam' will hold and take BP this week. They've got 'Dumbo' getting second (and hopefully stabilizing) and 'Missing Link' third.
BOR has been doing well more times than not with these mid range titles, going big on estimates and usually hitting. This week is no exception with BOR having 'After' well above the next closest BP contenders, 'The Best of Enemies' and 'Shazam.'
Mojo is all in with 'The Best of Enemies' as BP with 'Hellboy' a distant second followed by 'Us.'
Oof. A fair few movies got totally gutted this week. As Phil eluded to with his Fandango Check, theatre counts would agree that at the very least, 'Five Feet Apart,' 'Wonder Park' and 'How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World' are unplayable.
There seems to be a lot of interesting potential line ups this week. Some in the chatter feel it could be another consensus week, others aren't as sure. (Like me)
On side note, the one and only Matthew Berry is putting his money (or someone's money) on the line with the new league that starts the week of April 19th. If you wanna see if you can best one of the founders of FML, click < a href="https://fantasymovieleague.com/league/5">this link and see how well you do against Matthew Berry.
Personally, I'm looking forward to beating him. ;)
(Maybe he's even trying to build a line up right now. Hehehe)
