Box Office Estimates for March 8-10

Todd Thatcher

Let's call it my "Captain Alita: Marvel Angel" lineup this weekend as the MCU looks to dominate the box office. FML knows it as they've wisely done split pricing for "Captain Marvel", the latest anticipated massive blockbuster from Disney/Marvel. Todd from here bringing you my take on the frame ahead as the question arises... what to pair with Brie Larson's title character? And which days are the right play?

I'm going with a percentage split of 39/35/26, which is pretty consistent with other megahits from the multi billion dollar studio. It's tempting to select low end filler to fill out the slate. Yet I find myself liking the pricing of the other female superhero we can choose from. No, not Madea. I'm talking Alita, which I have just edging those Legos for the four spot.

Here's how I have the selected features performing:

"Captain Marvel" (Friday) - $60.3 million
"Captain Marvel" (Saturday) - $54 million
"Captain Marvel" (Sunday) - $40.1 million
"How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" - $16.6 million
"Tyler Perry's A Madea Family Funeral" - $11 million
"Alita: Battle Angel" - $4 million
"The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part" - $3.9 million
"Green Book" - $2.6 million
"Isn't It Romantic" - $2.6 million
"Fighting with My Family" - $2.5 million
"Greta" - $2.1 million
"What Men Want" - $1.4 million
"Happy Death Day 2U" - $1.2 million
"The Upside" - $1.2 million
"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" - $1 million

And that leaves me playing the Saturday and Sunday showings of "Captain" along with "Alita" 6x. What say you?
