Would you like to build a lineup?

Lindsay Chrapko

Each Thursday I'll give a little breakdown on how to build your lineup with the information readily available to everyone, especially if you don't know where to start.

this can always change pending preview numbers and are by no means a guarantee to win

Woohoo! A new season is upon us! To recap last week, I should have listened to my own advice and gone heavy on 'Happy Death Day 2U.' Sadly, I did not. I did, however, have my best season to date, finishing 38th overall in the Season Showdown :)

So what does the first week of the Spring Season have in store for us? My Spidey senses are tingling.....

Cineplex Builder

The Builder has us starting at a $64k Bonus Bar. As always, that will adjust as you start plugging away at numbers. Fun Fact: you can select a league that you're in and the Builder will take into account the bonus rules being applied for that league. The more you know! (This is fantastic for side games that have different scoring bonuses)

Bonus Bar

Guyett has his bar set at $70k. He's also hinted at some potential expansions due to the Oscars. Definitely a couple to look out for.

BSA

BSWhite says not to take the crumbs being left by 'Greta' this week. He's coming off of a perfect BSA season, and I'm thinking he's gonna continue his hot streak.

Fandango Check

Even though things may seem a little wonky with the Fandango Check, the takeaway remains solid. Both 'Green Book' and 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' have had a significant amount of show times added. Like a lot. Like, a lot a lot.

There's a helpful comp thread that Waco Kid and Nux contribute to the MC each week. I'll do my best to link it if it's available. If it isn't, I highly recommend that you seek it out. You can learn to familiarize yourself with comping movies and why.

Pro Boxoffice

Pro has 'Green Book' crushing the competition this week. It's not even close. It looks like they're banking on that Oscar win and expansion that usually goes along with it the week following the Oscars. The only drawback, it the bottom third of the slate is ignored, and there may be something there.....

Boxoffice Mojo

This is out of the usual order for reasons to follow...

Mojo is also riding the 'Green Book' train. Again, 'Green Book' is so far ahead from the next closest movie that you really can't ignore it. However, the article does state that another Oscar winner got a huge expansion, and Mojo doesn't normally do the bottom third of the slate either.....

Boxoffice Report

Whoomp! (There it is). BOR thinks that 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' is not only going to stomp the competition, but that it will be DOUBLE the value of the next closest movie (which is Green Book, by the way)

Theatre Counts

Wowsers!!! It's all coming together now. Green Book got that Oscar expansion that sites were eluding to with their estimates but look at Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. A 223% increase!! That's crazy! With it only costing $11 bux it doesn't need a whole lot to be your Best Performer this week.

This week may seem like a bit of a lob, but there are a handful of lines that are in play. It's all going to come down to your anchors. Let's hope we pick the right ones :)
