Would you like to build a lineup?
Each Thursday I'll give a little breakdown on how to build your lineup with the information readily available to everyone, especially if you don't know where to start.
this can always change pending preview numbers and are by no means a guarantee to win
So yeah ... that thud you heard was a bunch of Lego bricks crashing on the floor. Hopefully you steered clear of it when the preview numbers came rolling in, or you got stuck in a landmine of Lego on the floor and you trying not to step on them.
I've been a bit under the weather lately so I may be keeping the summaries short and sweet this week. (Read: mailing it in.)
Heading into the final stretch with only 2 weeks left we have a crazy weekend ahead of us. Both 'Happy Death Day 2U' and 'Isn't It Romantic' opened on Wednesday, and 'Alita: Battle Angel' opens on Thursday. This is also a four-day weekend with President's Day being the Monday kicker. The good news is that with the movies opening early, we'll see some data that we wouldn't normally see and get a feel for what these movies could do over the weekend. The bad news, with Valentine's Day in the mix, you may see a lot of false positives for movies whose demographic skews female.
We see a Bonus Bar of 71.5k. If you've been following me this season, you'll know that this is a great starting point, but the Bonus Bar will most likely be higher.
Guyett is back and has his Bonus Bar set at 75k.
BSWhite isn't a fan of 'Happy Death Day 2U.'
Furiosa has 'Alita,' 'Isn't It Romantic,' 'Glass' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is his top tier for now.
Phil has a lot of DOA's this week. Odds are, none of them are your BP.
Oh PRO. Three-day estimates leave us thirsty for more. If you go by their numbers you have 'Isn't It Romantic' as both your Anchor and Best Performer.
BOR with 4 day estimates. Whew. He has 'Glass' as his Best Performer.
Mojo has both 3- and 4-day estimates for us and they have 'Isn't It Romantic' as the Best Performer of the weekend.
Some hefty theatre cuts from the bottom half of the slate.
But wait a minute!!!....
Not that we listen to Anthony....but here's the thing. As I mentioned at the start, all 3 new releases open before Friday. It gives us a bit of a crystal ball effect into the weekend and he thinks 'Alita: Battle Angel' is in for a fantastic weekend, basically crushing the competition.
If you believe Deadline your only task is to sort out your filler. That I can't help you with because I'm still trying to sort out mine. :)
