Would you like to build a lineup?
Each Thursday I'll give a little breakdown on how to build your lineup with the information readily available to everyone, especially if you don't know where to start.
this can always change pending preview numbers and are by no means a guarantee to win
Well if you rode with The Devil this week you're sitting high on your thrown. 'Bumblebee' inched out 'A Dog's Way Home' and sent the Season Showdown into the reigns of hell. Literally. The Devil is now in first place. Well done The Devil!!
We finally have a week with a fair amount of new movies on the slate. You can make a case for all of them, and against them :)
Oohhhh. Another great starting point at 70.2k for the Bonus Bar. With 'Lego 2' and 'What Men Want,' we may find the bar closer to 80k by Friday morning. Preview numbers will tell all with the new releases this week. There's a lot of potential with them.
Real Fake Films is subbing in this week. He's set the Bonus Bar at 80k. He's given a lot of short, sweet, but great info on each of the movies this week. It looks like a couple of the new releases are to be watched closely (read: 'Lego 2' and 'What Men Want')
If we are to go with BSWhite, we're tossing 'Cold Pursuit' from our line up. Neeson action movies are a guilty pleasure of mine, but I'm inclined to agree with the BSA, if only because two of the other opening movies fit my narrative better. :)
Keeping the Bonus Bar at 80k, Phil says "just say no" to the bottom part of the slate. My "nice guy" counterpart, Waco Kid agrees and wanted me to make a point of saying the bottom 6 films will not be your Best Performer this week. Now they may sneak into your line as filler, but that's all. Even then, I think there are other options available.
In other parts of the community, Furiosa has 'Bohemian Rhapsody,' 'Miss Bala,' 'The Upside' and 'What Men Want' in Tier 1 and agrees with the 80k Bonus Bar. The thread got a little derailed, but through all the mess, there is some good chatter happening. Hopefully he can update his tiers today.
General consensus around FML, is the Bonus Bar will be at least 80k this week. That, and every community likes a little drama from time to time. Lol.
Pro is all aboard the Lego train. They have 'Lego 2,' 'The Upside' and 'Green Book' as their top 3 Best Performers this week. I'm sure this will be a reoccurring theme, the drawback of having your anchor as your BP when it's priced so high, is that everything from screen 2-8 is filler and you gotta hope you "chose wisely". (I really hope everyone is thinking about Indiana right now lol)
BOR is singing a bit of a different tune. He has 'The Upside' first, followed by 'Green Book' then 'Lego 2.' 'The Upside' has had a really great run so far, but is in direct competition with 'What Men Want.' The question is, which movie takes the audience this week.
Mojo also thinks a holdover will be your BP. They have 'Miss Bala,' 'Lego 2' and 'Glass' as your top 3, in that order. 'Miss Bala' could have had a tempered opening last week due to the Super Boring Bowl.
The takeaway here, at least for me, is that all 3 have 'Lego 2' in their top 3. If I was unsure of what lower priced movies could have potential, at the very least, I would anchor with 'Lego 2' this week and guess the rest.
So no crazy expansions that would make you scramble to one movie or another. Theatre Counts and the Fandango Check really go hand in hand this week. They do every week, but this week would be a great time to compare the two and see the correlation of data.
It seems that there's the potential this week for your anchor to also be your BP. Not an easy line to create if you haven't done your research on the holdovers. I'll be researching the top half of the slate heavily before deciding.
