Box Office Predictions for weekend of Jan 4-6

Todd Thatcher

Todd from www.toddmthatcher.com here saying Happy New Year y'all as we make our first 2019 selections on the FML slate! Horror pic "Escape Room" is the only newcomer to consider and my low teens opening forecast keeps it away from my consideration.

So it's all about holiday holdovers and I'm currently liking the way "Mary Poppins Returns" is priced in its third frame, along with Jennifer Lopez's "Second Act" in its weekend No. 3. I have most leftovers dipping in the 30s and 40s, while "Holmes & Watson" is a notable exception. My hunch is that it will plummet following its toxic word of mouth.

Here's how I have the selected features performing:

"Aquaman" - $27.9 million
"Mary Poppins Returns" - $18.7 million
"Escape Room" - $13.8 million
"Bumblebee" - $12.2 million
"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" - $10.9 million
"The Mule" - $8.3 million
"Vice" - $4.4 million
"Second Act" - $4.2 million
"Ralph Breaks the Internet" - $4 million
"Holmes & Watson" - $3.2 million
"The Grinch" - $1.6 million
"Mary Queen of Scots" - $1.6 million
"Bohemian Rhapsody" - $1.5 million
"The Favourite" - $1.5 million
"Green Book" - $1.4 million

And that leaves me playing "Poppins" 3x, "Second Act" 4x, and "Bohemian Rhapsody". What say you?
