FML Brackets: Best of Summer '17

Patrick Reardon

It's hard to believe that the summer movie season is almost over. It seemed like it was just last week when "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" kicked off the season in earnest.

But with all the movies that have come out this summer which one is the best? Our new Best of Summer 2017 bracket will try to figure this out.

-32-title bracket. All films released between May 5th (the de-facto start of summer movie season) and August 11th were eligible. Granted the summer technically has a few weeks left but do you realistically expect "The Hitman's Bodyguard" or "All Saints" to end up on anyone's list of all time classics?

-Seeding is based entirely on box office. The top two grossing films of summer "Wonder Woman" and "Guardians Vol. 2" get #1 seeds and so forth. Although some of the films listed haven't finished their runs yet we decided to seed them based on their up-to- date grosses rather than projections of where they'll end up.

Although "Wonder Woman" is the top grossing film of summer, will the passionate fan bases of "Baby Driver" or "The Big Sick" win the day? Or will "War for the Planet of the Apes" or "Dunkirk" be the last film standing? Cast your votes, spread the word and make a case for your favorites in the chatter.

Best of the Thirds

In an epic showdown of Harrison Ford flicks, "Return of the Jedi" took out "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" in our Best third movie in a Franchise bracket. Guess Han shot first.
